Kindergarten Graduate

Yesterday was Cruz's last day of Kindergarten. He's a 1st grader now, and very proud of that fact.

Field Day

Yesterday was "Field Day" at Cruz's school. I went to take some pictures of him, but ended up getting roped into helping out. That was okay, though. I got to stay with his class, so it was fun. He had a blast, but I think he was upset that they didn't play soccer.

Another Lost Tooth

Cruz lost another tooth. This makes 4. Yet again he pulled it himself. Actually, it fell out while he was eating dinner. I love that big toothless smile (or should I say "thmile").

Crazy Fashion Show

The Kindergartners recently had a "crazy fashion show." Cruz had a blast dressing up crazy.
Look at that smile! Even though he smiles all the time, it is rare that I get a picture of it. The minute the camera comes out, the smile disappears. Catching this smile is priceless.

Sleeping Diva

Mara wanted to wear a sleeping mask to bed. When I told her she didn't need it, she threw a fit. So I let her put it on thinking she would pull it off right away. Instead she laid down and went right to sleep.

Dance Festival

Meadow Elementary had their dance festival today. The kids were so cute. The Kindergarteners danced to a song from Tarzan. It was adorable!

When it was over I went back to his classroom and took some pictures. There were several parents doing the same. We were joking that the kids were having a photo shoot.

Book Tag!

Brittney book tagged me. This is a really quick, fun one.

Directions:
1- Get the nearest Book to you, or one you’re reading that contains over 123 pages.
2- Go to the 123 page.

4- Post the 5th sentence.
5-Tag five people.

The 5th sentence in my book: “Answering the touch for a moment, but not coldly, her father rested his hands upon the arms of his chair, and looked up for the first time since the beginning of the conference.” A Tale of Two Cities ~ Charles Dickens

I am tagging... Mandy, Sarah (yeah, I'm tagging you again, only because I want you to pick up a book), Jenn, Kirstine, and Anna (I know I'm getting you again, too, but I know you'll be reading something good.)

Total Randomness

This is just complete randomness of things on my mind today... Scissors and little girls with long, blonde hair do not mix. Luckily she was found pretty quickly, and the damage is minimal. I think I should be able to hide it pretty easily until it grows out.

I am seroiusly so excited for the "Twilight" movie. If, by any chance, you haven't yet seen the official teaser trailer you must. I'm going to have a totally adolescent moment here and say that I am soooo excited and that December can't come soon enough. Also I have to say that Robert Pattinson is really growing on me. At first I was thinking, "Cedric as Edward, really?" but now I'm pretty excited to see him as Edward.

The final two of American Idol. Only one more week. I hope Archuleta wins. I really like Cook, too, so either way is okay.

There is a beaver living in the park behind us. Karl took the kids out the other day and found his house. So now Karl is rigging up some contraption so he can put the camera up into the hole and get a picture of him. Poor beaver.

I warned you this was random.

Tagged!

I've been tagged by Anna, so here are a bunch of facts about me that nobody cares about...

A. ATTACHED OR SINGLE? attatched...obviously

B. BEST FRIEND? Karl

C. CAKE OR PIE? Pie. Fresh strawberry with lots of whipped topping, or a hot peach or apple pie with some ice cream. YUMMMMM!

D. DAY OF CHOICE? Saturday. Everyother day is scheduled. Saturday is my relaxation day.

E. ESSENTIAL ITEMS? Cell phone, a good book, the internet, my car

F. FAVORITE COLORS? red, pink, yellow, brown, lime, soft blues, this could go on for a while. I love color.

G. GUMMY BEARS OR WORMS? Both, but if I had to choose it would be the sour worms.

H. HOMETOWN? Mesa, AZ

I. INDULGENCE? Reading, reading, and more reading, a girlie movie sans Karl, a nice long soak in the tub.

J. JANUARY OR JULY? July, and I'd have to seriously reconsider my friendship with anyone who would chose January.

K. KIDS? 2 boys, 1 princess

L. LIFE ISN'T COMPLETE WITHOUT? Karl, Cruz, Kenyon, Mara, nights out with my girlfriends, books

M. MARRIAGE DATE? Feb. 25, 1995

N. NUMBER OF BROTHERS AND SISTERS? 3 brothers

O. ORANGES OR APPLES? Oranges - straight from the tree. That's one of the biggest things I miss about AZ.

P. PHOBIAS OR FEARS? Something happening to my family, heights, and spiders.

Q. QUOTE? "Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walkingaround outside your body."~Elizabeth Stone, and I recently read the same quote as Anna and I loved it as well. I'll limit it to the last line, "Today Mr. Darcy is a vampire." I think I loved it because it referenced both of my favorite books, Pride and Prejudice and Twilight. I've got a ton, but I'll stop with this one, "You always have time for the things you put first."

R. REASON TO SMILE? My funny kids and husband, a sunny day, the smell of rain, snuggling a puppy

S. SUPERMAN OR WONDER WOMAN? Superman rocks, but I have a soft spot for Wonder Woman, I used to love that TV show with Linda Carter.

T. TAG 5 PEOPLE... Lisa, Phaedra, Jenny, Sarah, and Brooke

U. UNKNOWN FACT ABOUT ME: This is not so very unknown, but a but unique. My front teeth are fake.

V. VEGETABLES? Tomatoes, corn-on-the-cob, yams, sweet peas straight from the garden, peppers...I love vegetables.

W. WORST HABIT? Once I start something, anything, I'm obsessed until it is finished. Nothing can interrupt me, I'm a woman on a mission and I must complete it. This is bad because I really can't focus or concentrate on anything else until I'm done with whatever it is that I've started. It drives Karl crazy.

X. X-RAY OR ULTRASOUND? Ultrasound...really, who would pick x-ray?

Y. YOUR FAVORITE FOOD? at this moment my favorite food is a warm brownie right out of the oven with a glass of milk. An hour ago or an hour from now the answer would probably be different

Z. ZODIAC SIGN? Pisces.

Tuesday Tell All - Summer Memories

This week's TTA is supposed to be about summertime memories from our childhood. I honestly think I have the worst long-term memory of anyone in history. I used to be able to remember everything up until I got pregnant with Cruz. Then it was gone...all of it. I do have a few memories that stand out like shining beacons, but mostly I find myself thinking "What did I do?" What I do remember was after I was a teenager. I remember so little from before then that I wonder if I was ever younger than that. So even though I have probably completely forgotten some very significant events (sorry if it was something big that I forgot Mom and Dad, I'm sure I enjoyed it at the time) here are the few things that stick out to me...

Swimming - living in Mesa, AZ, this filled most summer days.

Cookouts at my grandparents - barbecued chicken, potato salad, and baked beans. I loved it, but I remember by the end of summer thinking, "Can't we eat anything else?"

Floating the Salt River with my friends.

Driving through the desert at night.

My first kiss. (I can't even remember his name now.)

Summer romances. (Sigh!) Weren't summer romances the best? Of course nothing compared to you, Karl.

And that's it. Completely pathetic, I know.

Utah Valley Women's Expo

On Saturday Anna and I went to the Women's Expo in Orem. It was so fun! We got all kinds of free gifts and prizes. I won $250 off Lasik, which I don't need, so I'm selling it for $150. So if your interested, let me know. There was so much to see and so many great businesses there. So here were my favorite:
Primrose Retreat - They are a day spa and they have a little girl's spa as well. This is the most adorable thing I've seen. They also do parties for the little girls. All the spa treatments for the little girls come with a cupcake and PINK hot chocolate. I love it!
Miche Bag - This is a great idea. You buy a basic handbag in either black or brown. Then you can buy different shells for it. The shell covers the outside of the purse and it looks completely different. They have the cutest shells. BTW - I am going to be having a Miche Bag party in about a month, and you are invited.
Cherry Tree Cottage - This place has really cute quilt kits for pretty reasonable prices.
pinkbench - They sell these really cute headbands that are adjustable so they can fit little girls or ladies. They have velcro on them so they stay in your hair. They were really cute and very comfortable.
So there were my favorite booths. I've never gone before, but I'll be going next time for sure. I highly recommend it. So, Anna, thanks for a fun day!

Field Trip

On Tuesday the kindergartners went on a field trip to the Bean Museum at BYU. For starters, you can imagine how that went over with my die-hard Ute fan, Cruz. At first he didn't believe me when I told him that's where the field trip was. Once he decided I wasn't teasing, he said he wasn't going. After a few days of encouragement he seemed a little excited about going. So I got to be one of the chaperones. Cruz was so excited and kept asking if I would sit next to him on the bus.
I did sit next to him, and we had such a fun day. There were all kinds of animals to see and the kids did a scavenger hunt to find certain animals. Then we went outside to have a snack and draw a picture of their favorite animal. Cruz's was the beaver, but when he got home it had changed to the leopard and it has been that ever since. Next we got to go into an auditorium and watch a presentation about baby animals. - As a side note I was sitting next to the rudest, loudest, most obnoxious woman I've ever met in my life. Why do they ask people like that to come to something like this? She talked loudly through the whole presentation, and you could tell the person presenting was very upset with her. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy that part at all.

Cruz's group in front of the Lions

Cruz got to pet a lizard after the animal show.

Cruz had a great time. When we got home Karl asked him if he was a BYU fan now. Cruz said no, he was still a Ute fan and that the museum at the U was better. His dad was happy to hear that.

Catching Up

So you have probably noticed that I haven't posted very much in the last couple of weeks. That is not from a lack of things to post about, but rather from so much going on that I haven't had time to sit down and post. We've been keeping ourselves quite busy recently, and I will be trying to catch up on what has been going on around here over the next few days. So, remember to scroll down, because there may very well be more than one new post.

Tuesday Tell All - Things I NEVER did until I became a Mom

Until I became a mom, I never...

spent 30 minutes watching someone go to the bathroom, and then was so excited that they did that I called people just to tell them about it.

jumped up like a maniac when the house became too quiet to run through every room trying to see what was being destroyed.

spent 20 minutes begging someone to just try one bite. Which leads directly to...

spent all day cooking just to throw most of it in the trash.

put myself in time-out.

recieved 30 hugs and kisses from 3 different people at the same time.

heard "You are the prettiest mom in the whole world and the whole outer space," when I have morning hair, no makeup, and puffy morning eyes.

watched a movie with 3 people on top of me.

watched 3 people sleeping and thought I would absolutely burst with love and happiness.

really recognized and appreciated all the things my own mother did and still does for me. (Thanks for EVERYTHING, Mom!)

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."
~Elizabeth Stone
How about you? What's something you never did until you became a mom?
